Message from the President
Erin Murphy
President, FBA-Los Angeles
Chartered in 1937, we are one of the oldest and largest chapters of the national Federal Bar Association. We are committed to serving the federal bench, the bar and the greater Central District of California community. Besides timely, substantive programming, our Chapter seeks to bridge the bench, the bar and the broader community on issues of import to the Central District.
Our membership and our Board reflect the community we seek to serve. Judges of the Central District. Civil and criminal practitioners representing plaintiffs and defendants. Federal, state and local legal and administrative agencies. Practitioners at small, medium and large, and solo firms. The range of practices represented on our Board and in our organization touch on all aspects of the great many matters heard in the Central District.
We aim to serve the Court, the litigants, and the broader community. Our pro bono projects, including our ongoing work with the Pro Se Clinic and the Court's community outreach efforts, give our members the chance to meaningfully enrich our local community. Through our extensive programming, we seek not only to educate the bar, but to promote connectedness and relationship-building amongst our members. Our events often feature and are attended by our District's federal judges, providing an opportunity to engage with our bench. And we recognize our responsibility to the incoming generations of practitioners. Our Younger Lawyer's Division serves those rising attorneys through programming and social events, all with the aim of developing our community's future leaders.
I personally invite you to attend our events and join us in service. I encourage you to contact any of our Board members, or me, about getting involved. As with any organization, our Chapter only functions as well as the sum of our parts.
